Im Jahr 2000 wurde die Europäische Grundrechtecharta sowohl vom Europäischen Rat als auch vom Europäischen Parlament angenommen. In dieser Grundrechtecharta wurden zum ersten Mal soziale Grundrechte in den Grundrechtskatalog aufgenommen, wobei diese Entscheidung nicht unumstritten war. Es stellt sich die Frage, wie diese sozialen Normen der Grundrechtecharta zu verstehen sind. Handelt es sich hierbei um Verfassungsrechte, auf deren Durchsetzung jedermann einen Rechtsanspruch besitzt? Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die verschiedenen Interpretationsmöglichkeiten der sozialrechtlichen Chartabestimmungen zu analysieren. Hierfür wird vom Autor Rudolf Oberschneider die Entstehungsgeschichte des Grundrechtsschutzes im Allgemeinen bzw. des sozialen Grundrechtsschutzes im Speziellen sowohl in der Europäischen Gemeinschaft selbst als auch in einzelnen Mitgliedsstaaten betrachtet. Zusätzlich wird auf den Entstehungsprozess der Grundrechtecharta und deren Folgen eingegangen. Anschließend werden die einzelnen sozialen Grundrechte der Grundrechtecharta einzeln analysiert. Das Buch richtet sich an Juristen aus dem Bereich des Europarechtes als auch aus dem Bereich des Verfassungs- bzw. Staatsrechtes.
