Er konzentriert sich auf die Zeit zwischen der erneuten Machtübernahme der spanischen Bourbonen 1734 und der erstmaligen Flucht der königlichen Familie Ende 1798 nach Sizilien. Ihn beschäftigt die Frage, wie die Zentralregierung in Neapel und die ihr in den Provinzen unterstehenden Instanzen mit den ihnen zur Verfügung stehenden Machtmitteln versuchten, ihren Herrschaftsraum unter Kontrolle zu halten und das Banditenunwesen einzudämmen - und warum sie an dieser Aufgabe scheiterten. About the Author Ronald Richter studierte Geschichte, Hispanistik sowie Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaften an den Universitäten Leipzig und Pisa. Nach Forschungsaufenthalten in Rom und Neapel wurde er in einem gemeinsamen Verfahren der Universitäten Leipzig und Roma Tre in italienischer Geschichte promoviert.
