Die siebzehnte Folge des Jahrbuchs dokumentiert erneut die wachsende Internationalisierung der Kinder- und Jugendliteraturforschung. Die Beiträge aus den Niederlanden, Portugal und Polen belegen die Vergleichbarkeit der Entwicklungen in einzelnen europäischen Ländern und regen zu weiteren komparatistischen Studien an. Ein Ländervergleich findet sich auch in der rezeptionsanalytischen Studie von Jeanette Hoffmann. Die historische Kinder- und Jugendliteraturforschung ist mit Beiträgen von Sebastian Schmideler und dem Exilforscher Christoph Seifener vertreten. Die gegenwartsbezogenen Aufsätze setzen die Auseinandersetzung mit Fantasy fort bzw. fokussieren jugendkulturelle wie auch multikulturelle Aspekte in Deutschland und Südkorea. Ute Dettmars Untersuchung soll nicht zuletzt demonstrieren, dass in diesem Jahrbuch auch die Kinder- und Jugendmedienforschung ihren Platz findet.
