1. 1 Das Wesen der Analytischen Chemie Was ist Analytische Chemie? Analytische Chemie ist der Zweig der Chemie, der sich mit der Trennung und der Analyse chemischer Substanzen befaBt. Traditionell hat sich die Analytik weitgehend mit Trennungen und mit der Bestimmung der chemischen Zusammen setzung befaBt. Die Entwicklung fiihrt jedoch mehr und mehr dahin, auch die Be stimmung der chemischen Struktur und die Messung physikalischer Eigenschaften einzubeziehen. Die Analytische Chemie umfaBt sowohl die qualitative als auch die quantitative Analyse. In der qualitativen Analyse wird untersucht, was vorhanden ist, in der quantitativen Analyse, wieviel davon vorhanden ist. Das vorliegende Buch befaBt sich nahezu ausschlieBlich mit der quantitativen Analyse. Es scheint jedoch angebracht, kurz auf die qualitativen Methoden einzugehen, die zur Identifizierung der in einem Gemisch vorhandenen Substanzen benutzt werden. Der systematische qualitative Schwefelwasserstoff-Trennungsgang ist niitz lich zum Kennenlernen und Durchfiihren einer Reihe von chemischen Reaktionen, wird in der Praxis jedoch kaum noch als analytische Methode angewandt. Die Emis sionsspektroskopie (Kapitel 24) ist eine schnelle und brauchbare Methode, urn die in einer anorganischen Probe vorhandenen Elemente festzustellen. Fiir den Nach weis vieler Ionen und Molekiile sind empfindliche und selektive Tiipfelreaktionen ausgearbeitet worden. Auch die Chromatographie ist eine sehr niitzliche Methode zur Trennung und zum Nachweis sowohl organischer wie auch anorganischer Sub stanzen (Kapitel19-22). Zum Beispiel wurden Papier-und Diinnschichtchromato 1 graphie angewandt, urn schnell Blutuntergruppen zu bestimmen und urn in Polizei laboratorien die vielen in Kugelschreibern verwendeten Tinten zu identifizieren.
