In diesem Buch werden die neueren Entwicklungen in der Geldtheorie und der Informationsökonomik auf Fragestellungen zu internationalen Währungsbeziehungen angewendet. Im Anschluß an die Erarbeitung wesentlicher gleichgewichtstheoretischer Elemente von internationalen Währungsfragen werden Transaktionskosten in ein Standardmodell der (realen) Außenwirtschaftstheorie implementiert. In einem konsumtheoretischen Modell wird die individuelle Währungsnachfrage als Optimierungsproblem in Bezug auf Qualitätseigenschaften analysiert. Auf dieser Basis wird ein Währungssignaling zwischen Emittenten von und Nachfragern nach international verwendeten Währungen entworfen. Unter zusätzlicher Verwendung der hedonistischen Preistheorie wird ein Currency Substitution-Wechselkursmodell formuliert. In einem Außenhandelsmodell werden die Effekte von Transaktionskosten auf Handelsvolumen und relative Güterpreise untersucht. Es kann in der Arbeit nachgewiesen werden, daß in einer unsicheren Welt internationale Handelbeziehungen von Währungsrisiken dominiert werden.
