200 Jahre Digitalistherapie -seit Withering 1775 mit der therapeutischen Prlifung der Digitalisglykoside begann und 10 Jahre spater "An account of the Foxglove and some of it's medical uses, with practical remarks on dropsy and other diseases" publizierte - umfassen eine lange Phase empi rischer Therapie, die mit der EinfUhrung von praktisch brauchbaren Kenn daten fUr die Dosierung der einzelnen Herzglykoside vor etwa 20 Jahren durch Augsberger einen hohen Stand erreichte. In den letzten Jahren ist die Glykosidforschung in eine stlirmische Entwicklung eingetreten, einerseits bedingt durch neue Methoden wie die Bestimmung des GIykosidspiegels im BIut, andererseits beglinstigt durch die allgemeinen Fortschritte der klini schen Pharmakologie. Aite Fragen wie der Vergleich verschiedener Herz glykoside, der EinfluB von Nierenfunktion und Elektrolytstoffwechsel, die Pathogenese der Intoxikation konnten mit verbesserter Technik untersucht werden, neue Probleme wie die der biologischen Verfiigbarkeit, der Arznei mittelinteraktion, des Verhaltens der Glykoside im Organismus tauchten auf, und sehr viel differenziertere Vorstellungen iiber die inotrope Grund wirkung konnten gewonnen werden. Die Glykosidforschung ist geradezu zum Paradefe1d der klinischen Pharmakologie geworden, fUr deren viel faltige Gesichtspunkte und Verfahren sie charakteristische und relevante Beispiele bietet. Es besteht daher das dringende Bediirfnis, diese Erkennt nisse fUr Klinik und Praxis nutzbar zu machen und den Gedankenaustausch zwischen Pharmakologen und Klinikern zu vertiefen. Dies war der Sinn einer Arbeitstagung, auf der Ausschnitte aus der aktuellen Problematik der Digitalistherapie besprochen wurden und deren Referate und Diskussionen der vorliegenden Publikation zugrundeliegen.
