Vorbemerkungen Der Begriff "Politische Sozialisation" bezieht sich auf jene bewui. \ten und unbewui. \ten Lemprozesse, durch die Menschen zu politischen Orientierungen und Verhaltensweisen gelangen. Politische Sozialisa tion ist - zumindest in den USA - zu einem der wichtigsten For schungszweige der Sozialwissenschaften geworden. Greenstein gibt folgende Definition: "Alles politische Lemen, formales wie zwang loses, vorsatzliches wie ungeplantes, zu jeder Zeit, ein Leben lang, eingeschlossen nicht nur ausdriicklich politisches Lemen, sondern nominell nicht politisches Lernen, dasjedoch politisches VerhaIten beeinflui. \t, wie z. B. Lernen von politisch relevanten, sozialen Ein stellungen und Erwerb von Personlichkeitsmerkmalen. "l 1m Gegen satz zu den mehr padagogisch orientierten Begriffen, wie politische Bildung und Erziehung, die lange Zeit in Deutschland gebrauchlich waren, werden hier die Bedeutung des intentionalen politischen Ler nens etwas relativiert und die gesellschaftlichen politischen System zusammenhange, in denen die Prozesse stattfinden, starker betont. Die amerikanische politische Sozialisationsforschung ist aufs engste mit der Entwicklung der Systemtheorie verkniipft. Deren strukturell-funktionale Variante bestimmte weitgehend die Rezep tion der amerikanischen Sozialisationsforschung. Gefragt wurde in diesem Zusammenhang nach der Relevanz politischer Lernprozesse fdr das Funktionieren und den Fortbestand politischer Systeme. Je stabiler das System sein solI, desto homogener miii. \ten die Lernin haIte in der gesamten Gesellschaft sein. Versuche anderer system theoretischer Variant en, Konflikt und Wandel in das Systemkonzept und damit in die Sozialisationsforschung zu integrieren, blieben in 2 Deutschland unberiicksichtigt."
