Der Band enthält einen vollständigen Index der lemmatisierten und grammatisch bestimmten Wortformen und ein rückläufiges Lemmaregister folgender Dichtungen: alle Texte aus der Straßburg-Molsheimer Handschrift ("Rede vom Glauben" des Armen Hartmann, "Straßburger Alexander", "Litanei S", "Pilatus"), sodann Herborts von Fritzlar "Liet von Troye", "Trierer Aegidius", "Höxterer Aegidius", "Trierer Silvester", "Graf Rudolf" und "Athis und Prophilias". Diese in Thüringen und Hessen in den Jahrzehnten um 1200 entstandenen Dichtungen und ihre Handschriften sind (auch) durch eine tendenziell ähnliche Schreibsprache verbunden. Die Hauptaufgabe des Indexbandes besteht darin, diese Schreib- und Literatursprache erstmals grammatisch zu dokumentieren. Dazu werden alle Wortformen in ihrer handschriftlichen Form (nicht in der Form der (teil)normalisierten Ausgaben) geboten. Zugleich erschließt der Index diese Gruppe mitteldeutscher Dichtungen auch lexikalisch.
