Konkret wird die Zukunft der stationären Autohäuser diskutiert und die Auswirkungen von Online-Vertriebsmodellen auf das stationäre Handelsnetz aufgezeigt. In diesem Kontext bilden insbesondere online-basierte Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten der Automobilhersteller den Kern der Arbeit. Es wird verdeutlicht, welche Konsequenzen mit dem vom Hersteller initiierten Online-Vertrieb einhergehen. Außerdem wird aufgezeigt, wie sich die Rollen und Funktionen der traditionellen Autohäuser wandeln könnten und welche Herausforderungen und Veränderungstreiber damit verbunden sind. Des Weiteren werden vorhandene Optimierungspotenziale auf der Handelsebene identifiziert. Darauf aufbauend werden Gestaltungsoptionen aufgezeigt und passende Lösungsansätze für die stationären Händler erarbeitet, mit welchen sie ihre Positionen an der Kundenschnittstelle verteidigen und ihre Existenzberechtigung gegenüber Kunden und Automobilherstellern gleichermaßen manifestieren können. Dabei sollen auch Möglichkeiten im Rahmen der fortschreitenden Elektrifizierung aufgegriffen werden. Derzeit erleben wir die größte Transformation in der Automobilindustrie, in der sich das Produkt Auto so stark verändern wird wie nie zuvor. Dieser wirtschaftliche, technologische und gesellschaftliche Wandlungsprozess wird Veränderungen nach sich ziehen und die etablierten Akteure vor gewaltige Herausforderungen stellen. Aktuelle Megatrends wie die Digitalisierung, Elektrifizierung, Urbanisierung oder veränderte Kundenbedürfnisse sind in aller Munde und betreffen Automobilhersteller sowie -Händler gleichermaßen.
