Florian Greiner in: H-Soz-Kult (22.03.2019), http: //bit.ly/2FtquVy Buchners Untersuchung der Trauer dürfte nicht nur für Italien wegweisend sein, denn die Relikte der Trauer - wie die erhaltene Friedhofskultur des untersuchten Zeitraumes, aber auch die archivalischen Quellen und darunter besonders Zeitungsberichte und Fotografien von sepulkralen Ereignissen - sind in anderen Ländern Europas ähnlich, auch wenn die politischen Verhältnisse verschieden waren. Das Verdienst des Autors ist es, diese Relikte erstmals zu einer Gesamtschau zusammengeführt zu haben, mit der sie Überreste zum Sprechen gebracht werden und uns Heutigen ermöglicht wird, vor der Folie der Vergangenheit den eigenen Umgang mit Trauer zu überdenken.
