Velasco e Cruz is a full professor in the Department of Political Science at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil; a professor in the San Tiago Dantas Graduate Program in International Relations (UNESP/UNICAMP/PUC-SP); and a founding member of the World International Studies Committee and the Brazilian Association of International Relations. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, and the title of Docteur d'État from the Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques, France. He was President of the Center for the Study of Contemporary Culture (CEDEC), Brazil; Coordinator of the National Institute of Science and Technology for Studies on the United States (INCT-INEU), Brazil; and member of the Scientific Committee of the Vilmar Faria Chair of Latin American Studies, of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO
