About the Author Ashlee D. Brunaugh is a registered pharmacist and Pharm.D. graduate from the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, where she is now a Ph.D. candidate within the Molecular Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery Division. She has extensive teaching experience in a variety of Pharm.D. courses as well as multidisciplinary research experience in the pharmaceutical sciences, including protein characterization and formulation, small molecule formulation and characterization, and delivery device design. In 2019, she was awarded a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Predoctoral Fellowship from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health.   Hugh D. C. Smyth is the Hamm Endowed Faculty Fellow and Professor of Pharmaceutics with Tenure, College of Pharmacy, The University of Texas at Austin. He is also an Adjunct Associate Scientist at the Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute, Albuquerque, NM. He is the Editor in Chief of Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy. He has a Pharmacy and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Otago, New Zealand. He has been a faculty member at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and at the University of New Mexico. He was the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) New Investigator award winner for Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technologies in 2007.
