In addition to the new and revised material, the author adds 50 new pages to make the book more accessible to graduate students in electrical engineering.  From the Back Cover About the Author Don Torrieri, PhD, is a leading Army researcher with the US Army Research Laboratory in Maryland. He also teaches graduate courses at The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, where he has taught many short courses. His primary research interests are communication systems, adaptive arrays, and signal processing. His previous employment includes work on electronic systems at the Naval Research Laboratory. He received a BS from MIT, an MS from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, Farmingdale, and a Ph.D. degree in electrophysics from the University of Maryland, College Park. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE. He received the Military Communications Conference achievement award for sustained contributions to the field in 2004. He is the author of Principles of Secure Communication Systems (Norwood, MA: Artech House, 1992, 2nd ed.; 1985, 1st ed.), Principles of Military Systems (Artech House, 1981), and Principles of Spread-Spectrum Communication Systems (Springer, 2005, 2014, 2015). He is also the author of over 40 IEEE journal articles and many more conference papers, technical reports, and classified reports.
