She was trained in radiology at the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology at the University Hospital Essen. After receiving her habilitation (Venia legendi) on ultra-highfield whole-body MR imaging in 2013, her focus of scientific research interest expanded by hybrid molecular imaging, with a main focus on PET/MRI in oncology and malignancies of the female pelvis in particular. Dr. Umutlu serves as the Vice Chair of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology of the University Hospital Essen as well as the Head of the Clinical PET/MRI and the Ultrahighfield research unit. As a member of various societies including the European Society of Radiology and a faculty member of the European Society for Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Medicine and Biology, she is also involved in training programs on PET/MRI and female oncologic MR imaging.
