The present book is the first volume of the "SAFPEM Fashion Books", introducing the concepts, AI designs, and physical products of the Iranian new generation fashion designers from around the world. In this series of books, we aim to systematically introduce and document an important yet somewhat hidden segment of the contemporary designers' community. We strive to focus on specific regions of the world in each volume, studying and documenting the local thoughts and discourses of creative communities in a more concentrated manner. We believe that the practical nature of clothing as a medium, and its inseparable connection to our contemporary lives, can serve as a powerful media for fostering broader connections between global audiences and contemporary cultural mediums. It can familiarize diverse realms of today's modern society with the potential application of artistic and creative approaches in everyday life. It is also important to note that in many traditional and developing societies, such as Iran, the medium of fashion design is regarded as a fundamental cultural challenge by governing authorities and conservative sectors of society. Many young designers in these countries operate under intense pressure from governmental controls and limitations, or they are forced to leave their homeland in search of freer environments with more flexible social regulations. In fact, the medium of fashion design, through its creative, rebellious, and subversive approach, is often seen as one subjected to significant social-political restrictions. Therefore, many valuable works by renowned designers, especially from the younger generation who are expanding intercultural discourses in this field through advanced digital technologies, often exist in a concealed, fearful, and uncertain state, with minimal economic support from cultural sponsors. It is important to note that this point is not closely related to the market and the large capital of clothing brands. Thus, the importance of addressing the topic of fashion by SAFPEM institute, as a specialized platform for studying intercultural contemporary arts, is primarily based on emphasizing the contemporary nature of the works made in this field and the close relationship of these productions with contemporary intercultural discourses and current artistic movements.
