English summary: This fifth volume of the Etymologiae contains two texts: De legibus and De temporibus. The first is a compilation on Roman law in 27 chapters treating subjects from divine and human law, natural law, civil law, and the power of normative law and the characteristics of ideal law. This encyclopedic text and manual of institutions was influential for the Lex Visigothorum and medieval legal philosophy. De temporibus, in 12 chapters, defines notions such as time, the day, week, month, today and tomorrow, and ends with an expose on the six ages of the world according to the doctrine of Augustin. French description: Element notable de cette encyclopedie, le livre V comporte deux ensembles differents, le premier sur les lois (De legibus), le second sur les temps (De temporibus). Sous un titre ciceronien, le De legibus est un manuel d'institutions ecrit dans une perspective et avec une methode encyclopedistes, dont le but est d'offrir une vision des institutions romaines presentees comme perennes, bien plus que de celles de sa propre epoque. Il a exerce une influence notable sur l'elaboration des prolegomenes theoriques de la Lex Visigothorum et, au-dela, sur la philosophie juridique medievale. La question de ses sources reste ouverte, mais il est certain que l'auteur connait le code Theodosien au moins par des intermediaires, florileges de textes juridiques et compilations postclassiques faites a partir de materiaux anciens. Le De temporibus, quant a lui, est une reprise--avec certaines modifications--de deux autres oeuvres d'Isidore, le De natura rerum et, pour le dernier chapitre, la Chronique heritiere de la Chronique d'Eusebe traduite en latin par Jerome. On a donc en premier lieu une compilation sur le droit romain en 27 chapitres, aux thematiques extremement riches: elle traite, entre autres points, de la loi divine et de la loi humaine; du droit, de la loi et de la coutume; du droit naturel, du droit civil et du droit des gens; de la force normative de la loi et des caracteristiques de la loi ideale; mais aussi des supplices et des instruments de supplice... En second lieu, le De temporibus (12 chapitres auxquels la posterite medievale accorda une telle importance qu'ils furent transmis comme un texte se suffisant a lui-meme par 240 manuscrits) definit des notions comme l'heure, le jour, la semaine, le mois, etc., l'aujourd'hui, l'hier et le demain, et culmine sur un expose relatif aux six ages du monde selon la doctrine augustinienne.
