CREATESPACE The Legacy of Dangarwa: Our Heritage

Dangarwa is located on the interstate main Western Railway line connecting North -- south two main cities -- Ahmedabad And Delhi via Mahesana. It is located about 30 miles from Ahmedabad. It is also located two miles by the side road from the Intersection of the Main Interstate Highway 14 going from Ahmedabad/Gandhinagar to Delhi via Mahesana.The population of the village at the peak period was about 7000 people and in those days it was the biggest village in Kadi taluka ( county) outside of Kadi town’s metro area. At the time of this writing the Patel’s population has migrated to nearby cities and USA so Patel's population is much less than what was in the past.The Bhagvan Swaminarayan Memorial is an historical archived monument in the memories of Bhagwan’s 18 times visits to the village 200 years ago. The footsteps monument and surrounding area is dedicated to this so that tourists from far distance such as Kutch’s area can visit this place on the way to Ahmedabad’s temple( headquarter) on the way to their pilgrimage trip.What is shown here inside is from when we were kids; nowadays it is not like that. It has changed so much: barren land sitting there waiting for water and farmers, no water is available and only a few people are left in the village. There are no festivals or good green farms or happiness. With better leadership in the village that problem could have been solved and the help/water projects from the governments could have restored much in the village. The writer visited this place recently and it was a very painful experience to see barren land and an empty village without life. All the heritage type of plants, trees, scrubs, water wells and other historical items are vanishing very fast. This was the main reason to document our past in this booklet or presentation so that the future generations have something to look at or see their heritage.
