Reading and Language Arts emphasizes the importance of, and also how to design differentiated instruction, assignments, and assessments. You will learn how to teach phonics at the very basic level of reading, how to implement daily reading strategies that engage young readers with the text, and also how to design collaborative reading activities that motivate all students while allowing them to experience learning through hands-on activities. The second half of Reading and Language Arts emphasizes the importance of becoming a High-powered middle school reading teacher. You will learn to design age appropriate, purposeful, and authentic learning opportunities for all learners, as well as engaging strategies to motivate students while also building classroom rapport. Each chapter in both sections contain; research based information about designing effective reading instruction, the importance of planning, examples of engaging activities, insightful strategies, tiered vocabulary, parent and home connections, pages for student reflections and note taking, and also suggested readings for both the teacher and students.
