Coy is Professor and Interim Director of the School of Peace and Conflict Studies at Kent State University, USA. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Hewlett Foundation, the Albert Einstein Institution, and the American Sociological Association. His many publications include  Contesting Patriotism: Culture, Power and Strategy in the Peace Movement, Social Conflicts and Collective Identities, and A Revolution of the Heart: Essays on the Catholic Worker. He has served as the Series Editor of Research in Social Movements, Conflicts and <g id="30" data-gr-id="30">Change</g> since 2000.
