The study of dark matter, in both astrophysics and particle physics, has emerged as one of the most active and exciting topics of research in recent years. This book reviews the history behind the discovery of missing mass (or unseen mass) in the Universe, and ties this into the proposed extensions to the Standard Model of Particle Physics (such as Supersymmetry), which were being proposed within the same time frame. About the Author Dr. Arthur McGurn has been a Professor of Physics at Western Michigan University since 1993. He received his B.A. in Physics and Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Theory from the University of California Santa Barbara. Dr. McGurn is the author of more than 140 publications and has presented more than 100 talks at professional meetings. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, a Fellow of the American Physical Society, a Fellow of the Electromagnetics Academy, and a Fellow of the Optical Society of America.
