Description
Product Description This book is a major documentation of the discursive practices of Africans when they engage in online communication. It presents mainly linguistic perspectives on what Africans do when they interact through mobile telecommunications and the Internet. The book reveals the unique ways Africans blend their traditional communicative culture with some of the well known online behaviours. In addition, it draws attention to how Africans have been attempting to use the modes of internet and mobile telecommunications to solve their socio-economic and political problems by engaging in active agitation for reforms in those directions. About the Author Rotimi Taiwo PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of English, of the same University. He was a post-doctoral fellow of Alexander von Humboldt at the University of Freiburg, Germany and a visiting professor at the University of Munster, Germany. His research focus in recent times has been on the application of (critical) discourse analytic and text-linguistic theories to the Internet and mobile telecommunications. He was the editor of the journal Ife Studies in English Language. He also serves as a consulting editor for Linguistik Online (Switzerland), The Internet Journal of Language, Culture and Society (Australia); Journal of Language Studies (Ota, Nigeria).
