Product Description This is the first monograph of its kind to identify the microalgal species present in Dal Lake of Kashmir, India. It studies the algal diversity of the lake through the latest digital microphotography and advanced software. The book also includes 43 plates offering more than 200 coloured photographs of algal species, and this extensive analysis of the algal flora of Dal Lake will serve to stimulate interest in phycological sciences both locally and at a global level. A further interesting facet of the book is its presentation of the seasonal and locational distribution of each algal species and its consideration of the role of different researchers regarding the biological diversity of fresh water algal species. About the Author Dr Javeed Ahmad Lone holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences from Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, India, in addition to an MSc in Environmental Science and an MPhil in Fresh Water Ecology. He is currently working as a Lecturer in the Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir. His research interests focus on fresh water ecology, especially phycology. He received the Best Young Scientist Award from the Asian Journal of Experimental Sciences in 2009, and is also a life member of the International Society of Environmental Botanists. He has published several research papers in various academic journals. Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone is Professor in the Division of Environmental Sciences of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, India. He holds an MSc and a PhD from Aligarh Muslim University, India, and was the recipient of the Best Teacher Award of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology in 2017. Dr Lone has authored two books and has more than 100 publications. Dr Kiran Toppo is a Senior Technical Officer at CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, India. She received her PhD in Botany (Algae) from Lucknow University, India, and has extensive field experience of collecting algal samples. She has published more than 50 research papers related to the diversity and taxonomy of algae, algal biofuel, and the ecology of algae in various journals.
