Description

Product Description This book brings together leading African scholars and researchers from various academic disciplines, cultures, religions, and generations. It examines how to better mobilise and influence the actions, behaviour and attitudes of citizens towards accountability, transparency, and probity, in order to strengthen Africa’s integrity, equity, and sustainable development. It serves to deepen and strategically add to current efforts to combat corruption, and clearly advocates that fighting corruption is the business of everyone. The role of ethics in society and the presence of leaders who ideally should be ethical, effective, and empathic are also important. This volume shows that corruption robs the poor, and will serve to enrich the reader’s philosophy of life. About the Author Chris Jones established the Unit of Moral Leadership in the Faculty of Theology of Stellenbosch University, South Africa, at the beginning of 2008. He currently heads this Unit, and is also a Research Fellow within the Systematic Theology and Ecclesiology research group. He regularly presents papers at conferences and is the author of a number of books, chapters and articles. Pregala Pillay co-leads the Working Group on Ethics and Culture of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration. She is a Professor in the School of Public Leadership, Director of the Anti-Corruption Centre for Education and Research and Vice Dean of Social Impact and Transformation in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Idayat Hassan is Director of the Centre for Democracy and Development, an Abuja-based policy advocacy and research organization with a focus on deepening democracy and development in West Africa. She has previously served as a Deputy Regional Coordinator with the Movement against Corruption, an organization that seeks to eradicate corruption and poverty in Nigeria.
