Description

Product Description Parents will love and enjoy this informative guide to fixing sleep problems in children. It provides up-to-date, evidence-based behavioral treatment strategies, and is authored by highly recognized and established experts in the field of pediatric sleep medicine. It uses entertaining stories to show how sleep problems not only impact the child, but also affect the parents. Quizzes are included in each chapter so that the reader can see if the problem detailed in that chapter resembles the challenges their child is experiencing. It also reviews the diagnosis and treatment of each problem described, and how the characters in the story responded to such strategies. The book includes chapters on special populations and medically-based sleep problems that are also relevant to some readers, and the appendix provides user-friendly charts for the reader to use in support of implementation of the strategies outlined. About the Author Dr Lisa Medalie, PsyD, DBSM, is a board-certified Behavioral Sleep Medicine Specialist and Director of the Pediatric Insomnia Program at the University of Chicago. She is one of the very few board-certified, formally-trained Pediatric Insomnia specialists in the world, and one of only a handful formally trained in both adult and pediatric insomnia care. She has been practicing for more than 15 years, and has published on insomnia in various major scientific journals. Professor David Gozal, MD, MBA, PhD, is an international expert in the field of sleep medicine and is currently the Director of the Department of Child Health at the University of Missouri. He is known worldwide as a pioneer in childhood sleep, and continues to practice sleep medicine and engage in active and innovative research. He is funded by a number of National Institutes of Health grants, and is an accomplished author and speaker, with more than 650 research articles, more than 150 book chapters and reviews, and three books to his credit.
