Description

Product Description Memory studies is a well-established academic discipline, but the revised issue of ethnicity poses a new set of research questions, particularly in relation to the problem of the operational character of memory and ethnicity in the context of traumatized identity. Contemporary political processes in Europe, populism, and nationalism, in addition to ethnic challenges in the form of demographic shifts have created a situation in which new national identities have been developed simultaneously with emerging competitive historical memories. Memory, Identity, and Nationalism in European Regions is an essential scholarly resource that investigates the interactions between politics and managed historical memory and the discourse of ethnicity in European regions. Featuring topics such as anthropology, memory politics, and national identity, this book is ideally designed for scholars, practitioners, specialists, and politicians. About the Author Oxana Karnauhkova background includes degrees in Humanities – History, Psychology and Cultural Studies with an experience in interdisciplinary research in Intercultural Communications. My achievements in this field are proven through a number of projects, held in Russia and abroad, as well as in the publication list. When majoring in History, I concentrated on the problems of ethnic groups, power structures and state relationships. I was especially interested in psychology of intercultural communication, which became the focus of my graduate studies. Also, I have completed PhD program (Rostov State University, Russia), specializing in the field of Theory and History of Culture. My research projects have involved a combination of these subjects. My significant projects “Communicative strategies in multicultural regions” (Carnegie Fellowship Program, 2005-2006) and “Multiculturalism as the paradigm of the postcolonial development (the comparative analysis of the British and Russian models)” (Oxford Colleges Hospitality Scheme, 2006) were devoted to the problems of multiculturalism as cultural practice and social ideology and its transformations through time and regions.
