About the Author Emily Elliott graduated with a B.S. in psychology from Oklahoma State University and an M.S. in education from Capella. She worked in West Africa for almost ten years in local language literacy and teaching English. She was a curriculum chair at Kansas State University and is currently teaching English in Afghanistan.Jolene M. McConnell is an English language instructor at Kansas State University. She earned her M.A. in TESOL and linguistics from Ball State University. She was an English Language Fellow for 2017-2018 in Tiranë, Albania where she worked with the Institute for Educational Development, a part of the Ministry of Education, to improve the quality of English education through in-service teacher training workshops. Previously, Jolene has taught English abroad in Poland, Korea, and on board ships.
