This book details parametric down-conversion for the generation of non-classical state of light and its applications in generating various kinds of quantum entanglement among multiple photons from parametric down-conversion. It presents applications of the principle of quantum interference to multi-photon systems. The book also details continuous variable entanglement and various types of multi-photon interference effects. From the Back Cover Multi-Photon Quantum Interference covers the phenomena of quantum interference through the multi-photon effects of photon correlation. The author’s focus is on the temporal correlation among photons and how it influences the interference effect. Included is discussion of some of the well known multi-photon interference schemes, such as Hong-Ou-Mandel interferometer and Franson Interferometer for two-photon system, quantum state teleportation and swapping for four-photon system, and quantum state reconstruction for multi-photon system. A unique feature of the book is its quantitative characterization of photon indistinguishability and its connection to interference effects. About the Author Dr. Z. Y. Jeff Ou obtained his B.S. degree from Beijing University in 1984 and his Ph.D. degree from University of Rochester in 1990. He is now a professor at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. His research interests are in the fields of nonlinear optics and quantum optics with application in quantum information.
