Wenn Sie die Seiten des imposanten Bandes, den Sie in den Händen halten, durchblättern, tauchen Sie in eine Seite der Geschichte des zeitgenössischen elsaß-lothringischen Autonomismus ein. Eine ziemlich originelle Seite, da im Nachkriegsautonomismus nur wenige wie die Zeitschrift Neues Elsaß-Lothringen (und die mit ihr verbundene Kleinpartei Bürgerforum Elsaß-Lothringen1) die nationale/separatistische Option für sich beanspruchten. Obwohl kaum bekannt, übte diese Zeitschrift einen nicht zu unterschätzenden Einfluß auf mehrere Kader der autonomistischen Bewegung aus. Hinter dieser Initiative steht eine wesentliche Figur: Karl Goschescheck. Karl Goschescheck wurde 1967 in Straßburg geboren und ist in seiner frühen Kindheit einsprachig französischsprachig erzogen worden. Als Jugendlicher lernt er autodidaktisch Deutsch, da er diese Sprache als die nationale und legitime Sprache des Elsaß und Deutsch-Lothringens2 erkennt. In den späten 1980er Jahren engagiert er sich für den elsaß-lothringischen Autonomismus. So war er einer der Weggefährten Ferdinand Moschenroß' (1989-1994), schloss sich 1994 der Elsässischen Volksunion (EVU) an und gründete 1995 das Bürgerforum Elsaß-Lothringen. Goscheschecks verschiedene Kandidaturen bei Parlaments- und Kantonalwahlen führten allerdings nur zu sehr bescheidenen Ergebnissen. Aufgrund dieser Mißerfolge und der Tatsache, daß die elsaß-lothringische Identität immer mehr verschwindet, entschieden sich viele Persönlichkeiten des elsässischen Autonomismus, ihr Leben ganz oder teilweise außerhalb des Elsaß zu leben. Goschescheck bildet hier keine Ausnahme, doch im Gegensatz zu einigen seiner Weggefährten trifft er eine konsequente Wahl: Er zieht in ein deutschsprachiges Land, zunächst in die Bundesrepublik Deutschland, dann nach Österreich, wo er sein Berufs- und Familienleben führt. Nachdem er sich nun aus der aktiven politischen Arbeit zurückgezogen hatte, gab Goschescheck seine Aktivitäten in Bezug auf Elsaß-Lothringen jedoch nicht völlig auf. Als Leiter des NEL-Verlags übersetzt er unermüdlich zahlreiche Werke über Elsaß-Lothringen, die bislang nur in deutscher Sprache vorlagen, ins Französische und gibt so der jüngeren Generation von Elsaß-Lothringern, die nicht ausreichend die deutsche Sprache beherrschen, die Möglichkeit, in eine Geschichte einzutauchen, die ihnen oft unbekannt ist: ihre eigene.
