This book was originally published as a special issue of Women’s History Review. About the Author Lucy Bland teaches history at Anglia Ruskin University, UK. Her publications include Banishing the Beast: Feminism, Sex and Morality (1995, 2002) and Modern Women on Trial: Sexual Transgression in the Age of the Flapper (2013). Katharina Rowold is Senior Lecturer in European History at Roehampton University, UK. Her publications include The Educated Woman: Minds, Bodies and Women’s Higher Education in Britain, Germany, and Spain, 1865-1914 (Routledge, 2010).
