The contributors use themes suggested by Ayers’s work to open up new perspectives and discourses on key issues in education, such as education as a human right, participatory democracy, social justice, and liberation. About the Author Isabel Nuñez is associate professor in the Center for Policy Studies and Social Justice at Concordia University Chicago, USA.Crystal T. Laura is assistant professor of Educational Leadership at Chicago State University, USA.Rick Ayers founded the Communication Arts and Sciences small school at Berkeley High School and is an assistant professor of education at the University of San Francisco, USA.
