Pedestrian Facilities is intended for use by practitioners and students engaged in civil engineering design for highways and public spaces. It brings together guidance that will also assist urban planners, architects and the broad range of people involved with pedestrian facilities within the public realm. Dr John G Schoon MSCE, PhD, CEng, MASCE, FITE is a visiting fellow with the Transportation Research Group at the University of Southampton, UK. His consulting experience of multimodal transportation planning, highway engineering and community involvement brings a wide perspective on transportation engineering and planning. His experience also includes forensic engineering in traffic accident reconstruction, and project management and consulting in several countries for governmental agencies and the United Nations. He is the author of numerous project reports and technical papers and several books.
