This first volume gives a background on Filipino Stick fighting and the Balintawak style and relates the story of how Bobby Taboada was able to come from the slums and poverty of post-World War 2 Philippines to establish a worldwide martial arts organization. How Bobby, as the poorest and least educated student, would become Grandmaster Bobby and be the one to promote his beloved art of Balintawak Eskrima to the world. The book details how GM Bobby created his method of training and curriculum to be able to safely teach the Balintawak style of Eskrima whilst still maintaining the practical aspects of this street effective martial art. The incredible story of how he was able to come from sleeping on the floor of his instructor's house and doing any chores in exchange for lessons, to establish an international organization with thousands of loyal students around the world.
