Le kobudo est l'art historique du combat à l'arme blanche : bâton, tonfa, sai, nunchaku... Zenei Oshiro, maître okinawaien 8e dan, présente dans cet ouvrage l'authentique kobudo en plusieurs volumes. Art à part entière que l'on peut pratiquer seul ou en complément du karaté, le kobudo possède ses propres techniques et katas. A Okinawa, un maître du karaté, qui se respecte, maîtrise au moins une arme de kobudo. Ce livre, richement illustré, traite des armes fondamentales : le bo (bâton) et le tonfa (aujourd'hui connue comme matraque de police). Le bo est l'arme la plus simple à concevoir et la plus ancienne (on la retrouve dans toutes les cultures). Arme de base du kobudo, elle comprend le plus de techniques et de katas. Ce livre présente 3 katas : Bo-Kiso-lchi, Bo-Kiso-Ni, Shushi-No-Kon. Le tonfa est une arme redoutable, aujourd'hui utilisée par de nombreuses forces de maintien de l'ordre à travers le monde.
