Description

Over 30 years of research finding and gathering information from the players who were members of some of the more obscure psychedelic rock bands, heard only at the very beginning of underground FM radio during the psychedelic 60’s on a Friday or Saturday night. Most of these bands having only made one or two LPs, they were here and gone in an instant. This book features real stories about many of these experimental artists from that era, as told by the players themselves. Included within are such bands as Fort Mudge Memorial Dump, Jaim, Edens Children, Bear, Strange Brew, Big Lost Rainbow, The Glass Family, Air, The Churls, Eastfield Meadows, Gandalf, Quill, Aggregation, Federal Duck, Touch, The Hobbits, Indelible Inc, Sunshine, The Paisleys, Lacewing, Giant Crab and many more. Learn about the players, the recording studios, the road trips, the shows, the venues, the record companies and all of the arduous trials and tribulations of trying to make a livelihood as a rock band during the chaos of the psychedelic 60’s. The psychedelic music of the 60’s had a profound impact on those who grew up with it. The sights and sounds either freaked you out, or they mesmerized you and elevated your spirit. For vinyl collectors, the album covers and music may be familiar. Until now, there has been very little information about who the players were and even fewer details about how these bands started or ended. The Psychedelic Digest reveals the real facts surrounding these musical pioneers. For those who are not into collecting records, the stories are engaging and absorbing. These are the details and in-depth looks behind the scenes. This is a tribute to those players who influenced at least one of many and possibly an entire generation of listeners.
