Choueiri is Research Fellow and Professor of History at the University of Manchester, UK. He served as Professor of History in the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, 2015-2018. He is the author or editor of a number of books, including Arab History and the Nation-State, A companion to the History of the Middle East and Islamic Fundamentalism. His research interests span a cluster of inter-related Middle Eastern, Arab and Islamic topics: the emergence and development of modern Arab historiography, with particular reference to the notion of the nation-state, Arab Nationalism, Middle Eastern modernity and Islamism.
