The book provides in-depth knowledge on the physiology of soybean. It is written lucidly, systematically, and in depth. The book provides recent information and findings, explained with illustrations to express the ideas and concepts vividly to university students and researchers, and provides a better understanding of the improvement of the productivity of soybean to cope with the future demand. It describes the physiology of growth, development, flowering, pod development and seed yield as well as C, O, N and Oil metabolisms – their hormonal regulations under normal and stress environmental conditions. Molecular approaches are also described. About the Author Dr P Basuchaudhuri obtained an MSc (Ag) degree in 1972 from Calcutta University with a first class and was awarded a Gold and a Silver medal. He obtained his PhD degree from the same university in 1977. He joined the faculty of Calcutta University in 1975 as a Plant Physiologist and worked there until 1984. In 1980 he was awarded the Premchand Roychand Scholarship for his work submitted as a short thesis. He later became a Senior Scientist at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. He has four books to his credit and has published 60 papers in national and international journals. He has 40 years of teaching and research experience.
