Professor Sarma is interested in emerging contaminants, plant–microbiome interactions, biosurfactants, bioremediation, and nanobiotechnology. He has edited five books till date, and has also been nominated as a book series editor of Biotechnology and Bioengineering Advances, Elsevier.
