The author also asks how the psychological organization of music is dependent on the structure of the music itself. Taking the approach of cognitive psychology, Krumhansl integrates more than a decade of her own original research with the available literature on music cognition. Throughout, the author has taken care to provide adequate background in experimental methods and music theory so that no special background is needed to follow the major arguments.
