Functionalized Nanomaterial-Based Electrochemical Sensors: Principles, Fabrication Methods, and Applications provides a comprehensive overview of materials, functionalized interfaces, fabrication strategies and application areas. Special attention is given to the remaining challenges and opportunities for commercial realization of functionalized nanomaterial-based electrochemical sensors. An assortment of nanomaterials has been investigated for their incorporation into electrochemical sensors. For example, carbon- based nanomaterials (carbon nanotube, graphene and carbon fiber), noble metals (Au, Ag and Pt), polymers (nafion, polypyrrole) and non-noble metal oxides (Fe2O3, NiO, and Co3O4). The most relevant materials are discussed in the book with an emphasis on their evaluation of their realization in commercial applications. Application areas touched on include the environment, food and medicine industries. Health, safety and regulation considerations are touched on, along with economic and commercialization trends. The most relevant materials are discussed in the book with an emphasis on their evaluation of their realization in commercial applications.</p> <p> Fabrication methods such as covalent, noncovalent and biofunctionalization are reviewed for the development of electrochemical sensing platforms. The latest applications of functionalized nanomaterial-based electrochemical sensors are discussed including their key attributes, use, and latest trends. Application areas touched on include the environment, food, and medicine industries. Health, safety and regulation considerations are touched on and economic and commercialization trends.</p> <p><i>Functionalized Nanomaterial-Based Electrochemical Sensors</i> is suitable for materials scientists and engineers, chemists and analytical chemists in academia and R&D in industry.</p> About the Author Chaudhery Mustansar Hussain, PhD is an Adjunct Professor, academic advisor, and lab director in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences, at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, USA. His research is focused on the application of nanotechnology and advanced materials, in the environment, analytical chemistry, and various industries. Dr Hussain is the author of numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals as well as being a prolific author and editor of around 50 scientific monographs and books in his research areas. He received his PhD degree in chemistry from Kuvemmpu University in 2012 and was a Postdoc Fellow from University of Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2014. His research interests focus on the fabrication of electrochemical sensors for the detection of biologically active molecules and the fabrication of binderless supercapacitors.
