Description

Explore the legacy of a master with this facsimile publication of the Duchamp: Museum in a Box. This book provides a detailed look at the series D, 1961 edition of Marcel Duchamp's ambitious Boite-en-valise project. Originally conceived in the mid-1930s, the Museum in a Box was a portable collection of miniature replicas and facsimiles that allowed the artist to carry his most important works in a single container. This publication captures the essence of the elaborate reproduction techniques used by Duchamp, such as pochoir hand stencilling. By studying this facsimile, readers can examine the history of the various editions released between 1941 and the years following his death. It serves as a comprehensive resource for those interested in the history of art reproduction and the specific evolution of the series D edition. Whether you are a student of art history or a collector of rare art publications, this book offers a unique window into one of the most significant portable museum projects ever created.
