Description

Discover the hidden history of one of the most influential figures in tarot history. Pamela Colman Smith: The Untold Story offers a deep look into the life and diverse talents of the woman behind the world-famous Rider-Waite Tarot deck. Written by Stuart R. Kaplan with contributions from Mary K. Greer, Elizabeth Foley O'Connor, and Melinda Boyd Parsons, this book is the result of years of dedicated research by four leading scholars. While many recognize her through her iconic tarot illustrations, Smith was a multi-faceted artist whose impact stretched far beyond a single deck. This volume explores her roles as a stage and costume designer, folklorist, poet, and author. It also covers her work as an illustrator of ballads and folktales, her activism as a suffragette, and her contributions as a publisher of books and broadsheets.
