Product Description
Jackson 5 THIRD ALBUM Released on the Motown label, the Jackson 5’s appropriately named Third Album featured their fourth consecutive No. 1 single on the US pop charts, “I’ll Be There,” and the No. 2 single “Mama’s Pearl.” The LP peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Top LPs chart and No. 1 on the U.S. R&B Albums chart. One of the three albums the J5 released in 1970, it is considered one of the group’s best efforts, selling more than 6 million copies worldwide. Building on the funk and soul sensibilities of their renowned ABC album, Berry Gordy utilized Motown’s Funk Brothers for this release. “I’ll Be There,” the album’s standout single, showcased the Jacksons’ potential beyond bubblegum pop, with Michael Jackson delivering the ballad with a complexity far beyond his years. It became the most successful single ever released by the Jackson 5 and the most successful single released by Motown during its “Detroit era” (1959–72), knocking Marvin Gaye’s “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” off the top spot. It was ultimately the Jackson 5’s last No. 1 pop hit. INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL COVER AND BACK COVER ARTWORK 140 GRAM RED COLORED VINYL LIMITED EDITION Elemental Music
