This Routledge research monograph examines how Eurocentric epistemologies dominate knowledge production within westernized universities, positioning themselves as objective and universal whilst marginalizing non-Eurocentric knowledges including black and indigenous perspectives. The book addresses how universities function as institutions that perpetuate racism, sexism and epistemic violence through their structural frameworks. Despite growing challenges from student activists and faculty members, these institutions continue implementing diversity and internationalization initiatives that inadvertently reproduce systemic disadvantages rather than challenge them. Part of the Routledge Research on Decoloniality and New Postcolonialisms series, this work offers critical analysis of how academic institutions can move beyond performative gestures toward genuine decolonial transformation and epistemic justice.
