Routledge Intercultural Supervision in Therapeutic Practice - Routledge

Intercultural Supervision in Therapeutic Practice extends intercultural principles beyond the therapy room into supervisory relationships, offering critical perspectives from diverse cultural and racial identities across multiple therapeutic modalities. This Routledge publication brings together reflections from trainee therapists, qualified practitioners, and supervisors without hierarchical constraints, presenting the radical perspective of placement supervision within intercultural settings. Contributors examine pitfalls encountered in non-intercultural practice contexts, facilitating genuine exchanges that challenge conventional supervisory dynamics. The book serves as an essential resource for mental health professionals seeking to develop culturally competent supervision practices, understand how identity shapes the supervisory alliance, and navigate the complexities of cross-cultural therapeutic relationships. It combines theoretical insights with practical reflections to support both supervisors and supervisees in building more inclusive, awareness-based supervisory environments.
