Description

This Routledge Research in Art History volume explores the complex and interconnected art histories of East-Central Europe through a pluralistic geographical lens. The book challenges conventional narratives by examining how modern and contemporary artistic practices have developed across multiple regions and cultural contexts within East-Central Europe. Contributors analyse the ways in which artistic movements, influences, and innovations have circulated and transformed across borders, revealing how local traditions intersect with broader European and international trends. The collection addresses critical gaps in art historical scholarship by centering voices and perspectives from the East-Central European region itself, moving beyond Western-centric frameworks. This comprehensive resource is essential for scholars, students, and researchers studying art history, cultural studies, and regional European histories who seek nuanced understanding of how artistic identity and practice shape and are shaped by geography and place.
