Nearly four decades after Terence Ranger questioned whether African history was truly African, this Routledge publication revisits the enduring challenge of Africanist scholarship. With most prestigious African studies institutions located outside Africa itself, scholars face a persistent paradox in knowledge production. Africanizing Knowledge explores potential solutions and advocates for the development of robust higher education institutions within Africa to centre African voices, perspectives, and methodologies.
