Description

Experience the legendary live performance of Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs & Englishmen on this double vinyl LP pressing from Polydor. Released in 1970, this classic album captures Cocker's dynamic energy alongside musical director Leon Russell, drawing inspiration from rock icons like the Rolling Stones, Traffic, Bob Dylan and the Beatles, as well as soul legends Ray Charles, Sam and Dave and Otis Redding. The album features an impressive ensemble including a choir, three-piece horn section and multiple drummers creating a rich, layered sound. Only four of the 16 tracks originate from Cocker's first two studio albums, making this a distinctive collection showcasing his interpretive talent. The title references Noel Coward's classic 1931 song, establishing the album's sophisticated yet energetic character. This double vinyl release brings authentic warmth and depth to Cocker's powerhouse vocals and the arrangements that define this blues-rock milestone.
