MACMILLAN Latinxs, the Bible, and Migration - Cultural Studies

Latinxs, the Bible, and Migration explores the profound connections between biblical narratives and the lived experiences of Latinx communities navigating displacement and movement. This scholarly work examines how biblical texts function as resources for understanding migration through multiple lenses, including Cubans at Claremont's Calvary Chapel who employ scripture as a homing device, Latina perspectives on immigration embedded within the Pentateuch's legal codes, and how Central American refugee children on the Texas-Mexico border channel biblical exile as artistic expression. The book investigates gendered dimensions of migration in New Testament gospels, reconsiders Protestant Mariology through the Flight to Egypt narrative, and traces biblical foundations of migration discourse from Babel to Pentecost. Published by Palgrave Macmillan as part of the Bible and Cultural Studies series, this volume offers interdisciplinary insights into how religious texts shape and interpret contemporary migratory experiences across diverse Latinx communities and contexts.
