Description

Experience the spontaneous energy of In the Moment by MAKAYA. This collection is pared from nearly 48 hours of live, improvised performances recorded at a single venue over 12 months and 28 shows. MAKAYA carefully culled, cut, and remixed the massive collection of sounds into 19 potent pieces of organic beat music. The album serves as a proving ground for style experiments rooted in jazz and hip-hop, featuring local luminaries like Jeff Parker of TORTOISE. Moving through genres such as free jazz, krautrock, and downtempo house, the music creates a new lexicon within an improvisational framework. This release captures a unique sonic journey driven by subconscious influences and live musical exploration.
