Description

Experience a unique musical dialogue with Pareidolia on vinyl, released by Drag City. This recording captures the spontaneous collaborative energy between Eiko and Jim, two artists who rely on pure improvisation to drive their performances. Rather than following a pre-planned script, they prepare separately and let the immediate moment dictate the direction of the music. These 2023 performances represent a milestone as the first time Jim and Eiko played together outside of Japan. The music emerges from parts unpacked from their respective computers, potentially influenced by the specific environments of their tour, from the nature of the audience to the local experiences of the day. Each playback offers a different perspective, making this record a living document of musical discovery. If you appreciate the raw, unpredictable nature of avant garde and free jazz, this vinyl release provides a direct connection to a one-of-a-kind sonic event.
